Sabrina Valle

Anirban Sen, editor in charge of U.S. mergers and acquisitions coverage at Reuters, sent out the following on Friday:

I’m thrilled to share that Sabrina Valle will be our new M&A correspondent, based in New York. In her new role, Sabrina will focus on winning the biggest scoops and delivering agenda-setting stories on the healthcare and industrials beats.

Since joining Reuters as an energy reporter in Houston, Sabrina has led and broken major stories including a special report on US government officials probing Exxon Mobil’s contractors in Guyana for smuggling drugs and gold, Guyana’s move to reclaim an oil block responsible for massive discoveries, and Exxon’s decision to wind down production in Equatorial Guinea. Prior to joining Reuters, Sabrina broke several stories on the Car Wash scandal at Brazilian oil firm Petrobras, first as a reporter at Estado de Sao Paulo and later for Bloomberg. Her reporting on the criminal probe of Trafigura executives in late 2020 had a major impact and earlier this year the company confirmed the reporting, pleaded guilty to bribery charges, and paid a $127 million fine to resolve the probe.

With more than 20 years in journalism, Sabrina is a seasoned reporter who was previously with Bloomberg for six years and is now keen to take on the challenge of covering corporate dealmaking. She has also had stints with the Washington Post and National Geographic in Washington, D.C. Sabrina holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the Federal University of Rio De Janeiro.

In her spare time, Sabrina enjoys reading, exercising, and traveling across the globe to visit friends. Over the years, Sabrina has developed a unique talent as a wedding officiant, having overseen nearly ten of her friends’ weddings.

Sabrina will start her new role on October 1 and report to me. We look forward to welcoming her in New York in the coming weeks – please join us in congratulating Sabrina and wishing her success in the new role!

Best, Anirban
