Iain Thomson, a tech reporter for The Register based in San Francisco, has left the publication after nearly 15 years.
His recent stories included the surprise return to office lockdown at Tata and the Medusa gang hitting a major U.S. healthcare company with ransomware.
“As for the next chapter I’m developing a freelance business, but am also talking to various folks about going back full time if the right job comes up,” he wrote on LinkedIn.
During his time at The Register, he was promoted to American editor and led a six-person news team spread across the U.S. He also started The Register’s first podcast, “the Kettle,” scripting and hosting a weekly discussion on the tech news of interest.
Thomson previously worked at IT Pro and PC Magazine, among aothers.
