Former Fortune magazine CEO Alan Murray is rejoining The Wall Street Journal to help with its events business, reports Brian Stenberg of Adweek.
Stenberg reports that Murray “will play a key role in building out its events business, according to two sources familiar with the move.
“The hire was first reported by ADWEEK earlier this week.
“Murray and The Wall Street Journal declined to comment. A Fortune spokesman didn’t respond to request for comment.
“The appointment is a major get for The Wall Street Journal, as the highly connected, well-respected media executive will be able to put his network and acumen to immediate use in growing its events and conferences business.
“Murray’s move to The Journal is a return, as he worked for the publisher for 18 years, from 1993 to 2012.”
