The Knight-Bagehot Fellowship in Economics and Business Journalism announced Thursday its new class of ten fellows for the 2026-2027 academic year.
The fellows represent local, national and global news organizations, including Bloomberg, Business Insider, The Bureau of Investigative Journalism, Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, Financial Times, Fortune Magazine, USA Today Network, The Information, The News & Observer and the Polish digital news site, Onet.
The mid-career fellowships are offered to experienced journalists who take graduate courses, primarily at Columbia University’s schools of business and journalism. Fellows also attend weekly seminars with media and business executives and tech, finance and corporate experts during the nine-month program, which begins in August.
The Class of 2027 Fellows were chosen with input from a selection advisory committee of senior media and business executives. The incoming group will join more than 460 Knight-Bagehot alumni who cover economics, technology, finance and public policy at news organizations around the globe.
The 2026-2027 Knight-Bagehot Fellows:
Aisha Gani is a London-based finance reporter at Bloomberg News, covering fintech, artificial intelligence in banking, and private markets, with an interest in how technology and geopolitics reshape global finance. She began her career at the Guardian, reporting on politics and international affairs, before moving to BuzzFeed News and later Al Jazeera’s AJ+, where she produced news video from Washington D.C. and Doha.
Alexandra White is a breaking news reporter at the Financial Times in New York, where she helps edit the publication’s live news blog covering major political, economic, and financial developments. She also reports on corporate governance and writes the Energy Source newsletter, focusing on how policy is reshaping the energy sector. She is a graduate of Wesleyan University and CUNY’s J-school.
Anastasiia Morozova is a Ukrainian data and investigative reporter based in Warsaw, working for Onet.pl, part of Ringier Axel Springer. She previously reported for Frontstory.pl and VSquare.org, covering the impacts of Russia’s war against Ukraine. She collaborates with investigative teams across Europe and the United States and leads data and investigative reporting at Kordon.Media in her home region of Sumy in northeastern Ukraine.
Anis Heydari is a senior business reporter for CBC News, Canada’s public broadcaster. Based in Calgary, the nation’s energy capital, he also covers international trade, technology, and labor. He’s equally comfortable interviewing G7 finance ministers and at a union bargaining table. He’s appeared on NPR and the BBC World Service, reported from Washington and hosted Toronto’s top radio show.
Brian Gordon is the business and technology reporter for the News & Observer in Raleigh, where he covers the people and trends shaping North Carolina’s fast-growing Research Triangle. He previously covered North Carolina for USA Today and graduated from Columbia Journalism School. Like many in the Tar Heel State, he was born in Western New York and loves Wegmans.
Ed Siddons is an award-winning senior reporter at The Bureau of Investigative Journalism where he covers dirty money, transnational corruption and the City of London. Based in London, his writing has appeared in The Guardian, The Sunday Times, Politico, The Economist, The Observer and various other outlets. Previously, he produced broadcast investigations for Channel 4 Dispatches and BBC Panorama.
Helu Wang covers economic development and education for The Journal News/USA Today Network. Her work has appeared in newspapers, magazines and broadcast outlets across the U.S. and China and has been recognized by the Society for Advancing Business Editing and Writing and Investigative Reporters and Editors. She has also taught financial literacy and advised student newspapers.
Jessica Mathews is a senior reporter at Fortune Magazine, where her investigations into dangerous safety episodes at Elon Musk’s Boring Company triggered a federal investigation, a legislative hearing and demand letters from lawmakers. She is also an EPPY Award winner for writing the dealmaking newsletter Term Sheet. Before joining Fortune, she covered wealth management at Financial Planning.
Nicole Einbinder is an award-winning correspondent on Business Insider’s enterprise team, and a global reporter for Axel Springer, BI’s parent company. Her stories examine the impact of business on society. She was a Livingston Award finalist for a series about the gutting of Eighth Amendment protections for prisoners. She graduated from the J-School, where she received a Pulitzer Traveling Fellowship.
Theo Wayt is a reporter at The Information, where he covers SpaceX and Tesla. He previously covered Amazon, e-commerce and logistics for The Information and worked as a tech reporter for the New York Post. His work has been recognized by SABEW, including for an investigation into assaults on Amazon gig drivers. He grew up in Memphis and has lived in New York for a decade.
