Variety executive editor Brent Lang has been hired as editor in chief of IndieWire.
William Earl of Variety writes, “Since joining Variety in 2014 as a senior film and media reporter, Lang rose through a series of leadership roles, including New York bureau chief and executive editor, film and media.
“In 2024, he was named entertainment journalist of the year by the Los Angeles Press Club.
“Before Variety, Lang was a senior reporter at TheWrap, and his work has also appeared in The Patriot-Ledger, The Providence Journal, CBSNews.com and Forbes. He is a graduate of Brown University and the Columbia University School of Journalism.”
