As Skift’s travel technology and AI reporter, you cover technology, platforms, and artificial intelligence for the travel industry’s leading news and research site. What’s driving your coverage?
- The pace of tech development is driving massive change in travel for everyone, and it’s happening at a rapid clip. Some of these players are dealing with old systems and can’t innovate fast enough. Others, like online travel agencies, are racing ahead.
- Some of the major developments, or lack thereof, are happening inside the companies and distribution systems. Others are being driven by Big Tech through new tools and AI models, and it’s creating a tremendous amount of upheaval in this sector.
- What drives my coverage is zeroing in on the developments that can move the needle for the whole industry. Because the whole industry is facing change.
- We haven’t even talked about social media and greater use of video. We see other technologies’ trajectory and how they could impact travel, like self-driving cars. So there’s a lot of tech to weigh. But there are few tools and platforms that AI doesn’t touch, one way or another.
