Mark Hamrick, the Washington bureau chief for personal finance Bankrate, has left the news organization after 13 years.
He also served as senior economic analyst and senior director at parent company Red Ventures.
“As one season turns, another begins,” he wrote on social media. “I’m building The Hamrick Brief and looking forward to what’s next.”
Hamrick began his journalism career as a high schooler working in radio in his hometown of Coffeyville, Kansas. He joined Bankrate in 2013 after two decades leading business news coverage for Associated Press Broadcast in Washington.
He is also one of the few journalists to attend Federal Reserve news conferences since they began in 2011.
Hamrick has twice served as president of journalism organizations — the National Press Club, and the Society for Advancing Business Editing and Writing, where he launched the First Amendment Committee to champion press freedom.
