CNN reporter Oliver Darcy is leaving the news organization to start a media newsletter called Status.

Its home page states, “Status covers powerful outlets such as The New York Times, CNN, and Fox News; Hollywood giants such as Disney, Warner Bros. Discovery, and Paramount; and technology companies, including X, Meta, Google, and TikTok. We also follow the media moguls, tech titans, and power players who play outsized roles in the industry and our information environment.

“Status is authored by Oliver Darcy. In nearly a decade on the beat, seven years of which were for CNN, Darcy has built a reputation for consistently delivering consequential scoops and must-read insight that pulls back the curtain on the industry. His work is well-read by those who make up the industry, and for news chiefs, Hollywood bosses, tech executives, top political figures, and all those who seek a deeper understanding of the media landscape.

“Status is proudly independent and relies on its readers’ for support. Please consider becoming a paid subscriber to empower our independent voice. If you’d like to support us through advertising, get in touch here.”
