CNBC editor in chief Dave Cho and managing editor of digital and editorial strategy Ken Brown sent out the following on Thursday:
Team,
We are excited to announce several important updates to our markets team as we continue to strengthen CNBC’s investing coverage. These changes will boost our offering of sophisticated financial analysis while creating clear leadership and stronger coordination across our markets coverage.
John Melloy has been named Deputy Managing Editor, Investing & Markets. In this expanded role, John will oversee our investing, stock picks and markets coverage, along with contributions from CNBC’s leading on-air investing experts. Most recently, John served as Senior Editor, Markets, while also overseeing editorial content for CNBC Pro. He brings extensive experience across both television and digital, having previously served as Executive Producer of Fast Money and Halftime Report.
Vanna Ben’Ous has been named Senior Editor, Contributors, working with CNBC’s investing contributors and reporting to John. In this role, she will help develop and elevate the work of the experts contributing to our investing coverage. Vanna previously spent nearly eight years as Senior Contributors Editor at CNBC Make It, where she built and led its contributor program, working with experts across personal finance, work, leadership, parenting, psychology and other areas. Before joining CNBC, she held editorial roles at Inc. and Forbes. She graduated from the University of California, Davis, with degrees in English and economics and has also interned at Morgan Stanley, The New Yorker and Vogue.
Christina Cheddar-Berk has been named Senior Editor, Stock Analysis, reporting to John. In this role, Christina will lead an expansion of our investing coverage, including the introduction of staff stock picks, and help sharpen the analysis and ideas we deliver to investors. An award-winning journalist and experienced newsroom leader, Christina joined CNBC nearly 20 years ago to help launch the network’s website and has been an integral part of its development ever since. She helped build the website’s first team of reporters covering consumer and business news and, for the past four years, has worked as an editor for CNBC Pro. Before joining CNBC, Christina was a consumer products reporter at Dow Jones Newswires and also covered the energy industry. She graduated from Hofstra University with a degree in political science, serves as co-chair of SABEW’s training committee and is an active member of the Financial Women’s Association.
Harvey Stober has joined CNBC as a Senior Investment Analyst and Correspondent, reporting to Christina and delivering expert market and company analysis to CNBC Pro subscribers. He brings deep experience across equity research, investment banking and strategic consulting that will further strengthen our ability to provide sophisticated and differentiated investing insights. Before joining CNBC, Harvey was a senior analyst at Paragon Intel, where he analyzed public company CEOs. Earlier, he served as Research Director at Crawford Lake Capital, a New Jersey hedge fund, and held senior banking positions at Axiom Capital Management and Morgan Stanley. He began his career as a high-yield debt analyst with Trust Company of the West in Los Angeles. Harvey is a CFA charterholder and has passed the CPA exam. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Queens College, CUNY, and an MBA from Cornell University.
Isabella Gao will join CNBC next week as an Equity Analyst and Correspondent, reporting to Christina and focused on delivering actionable investing ideas, fundamental company analysis and market insights. She brings experience across both public and private markets, having worked as an investment banking analyst at Jefferies, an investment associate at a middle-market private equity firm and at a global equity manager. That experience across multiple areas of finance helped sharpen her focus on fundamental research and understanding the businesses behind the stocks. Originally from Chicago, Isabella earned her MBA from Columbia Business School and a bachelor’s degree in finance from Indiana University.
Under John’s leadership, Vanna, Christina, Harvey and Isabella will each play an important role in this next phase of our investing coverage. As audiences increasingly look to CNBC not only to understand what is moving the markets, but also for expert analysis and actionable insights on individual companies and investment opportunities, their work will help us deliver even greater value to investors across our platforms.
Please join us in congratulating John, Vanna and Christina on their new roles and welcoming Harvey and Isabella to the CNBC newsroom.
