For more than 40 years, the New York State Society of CPAs has recognized the best business and financial reporting through its Excellence in Financial Journalism Awards.
Broadcast, print, radio/podcast and online news organizations and reporters were asked to submit financial news stories that were published, posted or aired between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2024. Business book authors and publishers also entered this international contest. Student journalists at colleges and universities entered the NextGen category.
Winners were selected by a panel of judges comprising NYCPA members and financial journalists, who ranked submissions based on accuracy, quality and thoroughness of research, as well as on an accurate and nonpartisan representation of the topic.

This year’s EFJ Awards judges were Ruth Singleton, Emily Frizzell, Orumé A. Hays, Lynne M. Fuentes, Phil London, Rumbi Bwerinofa-Petrozzello, Michael Durant, A’Isha Torrence, Mary Jo Brancatelli, and Elliot Hendler.
The presentation of the EFJ Awards will take place on August 1, 2025, at BUTTER in midtown Manhattan.
