Business Insider reporter Julia Hornstein has been named the winner of the Martha Coman Front Page Award for Best New Journalist, honoring reporters who show exceptional promise and impact early in their careers.

In a series of standout pieces, Hornstein wrote about Gen Zers skipping college to found companies and work at Palantir, chronicled the rise of defense tech and memelord munitions-maker Palmer Luckey, profiled tech talk show TBPN, and broke news about Mira Murati’s AI startup and tech leaders leveraging political connections.

“Julia has made an immediate impact in one of the most competitive corners of tech reporting,” said Leena Rao, Business Insider’s executive editor of U.S. tech. “Her sourcing is deep, her instincts are sharp, and she consistently delivers stories that cut through the noise of Silicon Valley and defense tech. We’re incredibly proud to see her recognized as she represents the very best of what Business Insider aims to do.”

The award is given by the Newswomen’s Club of New York.

Hornstein joined Business Insider a year ago. She interned at The Information and is a graduate of Yale University.
