Business Insider editor in chief Jamie Heller sent out the following:
I’m thrilled to share that Barbara Corbellini Duarte is our new Editorial Head of Video. Barbara is an outstanding journalist, leader, and colleague who has played a critical role in building our exceptional, industry-leading video team at Business Insider.
Over her 8 years here, Barbara has seized opportunities from pitching viral videos that launched successful Facebook pages, to running our BI Today daily show, to developing some of our most beloved YouTube shows.
She has played a key role on teams that have earned us many awards and recognition for our videos, including from the Emmys, Murrows, Webbys, and Loebs.
We are at an incredibly exciting juncture with video. Business Insider has become the most-subscribed US publisher on YouTube with a collective 36 million subscribers and 323 million monthly views, and has been awarded the Diamond Play Button.
In the past year, our news and video journalists have teamed more closely to deliver our reporting to broader audiences — video to text and text to video. We have so much more potential for crossover.
We are also pursuing new opportunities to distribute our best-of-class videos even more widely.
Barbara currently lives with her husband and senior brown lab in Miami, where she is learning to dance salsa and play the drums. She will be moving to New York next year and will report to me.
