Business Insider editor in chief Jamie Heller sent out the following to the staff last week:

Before the year closes, I’m thrilled to share that Brad Davis and Debbie Strong are both being elevated to Deputy Executive Editor on the Innovation team, and we are also hiring for a new editing role on this team.

Brad joined Business Insider in 2022 as director of business news and has most recently been managing our anchors desk. Brad is one of our most thoughtful and gifted editors, whose wisdom and surgical touch make so much of our work better. As DEE, Brad will help Executive Editor Hayley Peterson shape priorities, manage workflows, and drive daily coverage and projects. He will continue to edit anchors Peter Kafka and Katie Notopolous while expanding his remit across the Innovation team.

Debbie joined Business Insider in 2019 and has built the business contributors team into one of the most creative and impactful in our newsroom, including this year with our Power Hours and Tiny Teams series. Whether it’s jumping into news or working on bigger projects, Debbie consistently marries ambition and editorial rigor. She will continue to run the business contributors team and also take a leadership role on more series across the newsroom.

With change comes opportunity. Bartie Scott, who helms our crackerjack economy team and this year our seminal 80 over 80 series, has also led the charge to build up our Inside Business stories and fast features. We’re excited to pursue more of these ambitious pieces in 2026. We are opening a new role on the Innovation team — a senior editor on the economy desk who will report to Bartie. At Business Insider, we bring economic updates to life through reporting that shows how they impact people day to day, like how to talk with family about unemployment during the holiday season.
