Business Insider editor in chief Jamie Heller sent out the following on Tuesday:
We have some exciting personnel updates and openings!
Mike Miller joins us part-time for the next few months, primarily working with the Discourse team while also training and mentoring journalists across the newsroom. A beloved, widely admired, and award-winning editor, Mike for decades held senior editing and leadership roles at The Wall Street Journal after starting his 40+ year career there as a reporter. I’m so excited to have Mike in our newsroom, helping us with ideas and making us all better. He starts July 20th.
Thomas Gryta joins us, also for several months, as an editor for the Business team while Ashley Rodriguez is on parental leave. Tom also worked at the Journal, reporting on companies including AT&T and GE and also editing technology coverage. He won an award for his coverage of GE’s decline and also co-authored a book about it. He will report to Steven Tweedie and starts July 20th.
Please also join me in congratulating these colleagues moving into new roles:
- Kasia Kovacs joins the editorial audience and O&O team as Audience Editor, UK. Kasia was previously our P&C operations specialist, and before that worked as a reporter and editor at different news outlets. She’ll support homepage and push alerts and video distribution efforts. She reports to Hallam Bullock.
- Roya Shahidi joins us as a reporter on the Partnerships team. Roya recently completed a fellowship on the UK Business team, covering tech and retail news. Previously, she reported for financial newswire Alliance News and interned with the Journal. She reports to Lydia Warren.
- Ben Shimkus joins us as a reporter on the Business team. Ben recently completed a fellowship on that team, primarily covering autos and AI. Previously, his work appeared in The Verge, Rolling Stone, and USA Today. He reports to Taylor Berman.
And a warm welcome to our new class of fellows:
