Barron’s executive editor Bob Rose sent out the following to the staff:

Hi all,

I’m happy to announce two important promotions in the Barron’s newsroom.

Deputy editors Alex Eule and Ben Levisohn are promoted to senior managing editors, effective immediately. They join Lauren Rublin as top editors, a strong and accomplished team to help guide us into the future.

The promotions recognize their hard work and dedication, including innovations to keep Barron’s relevant for years to come. Alex will help us map our future in our growing number of newsletters. He will continue to oversee tech and healthcare coverage, along with investigations. Ben is a crucial leader in our morning digital news report, and is leading our drive to enhance our offerings for stock market investors.

Ben joined Barron’s in 2012. He started as an emerging markets blogger and columnist, before taking on the Stocks to Watch blog, and writing the Streetwise column. He later contributed to a variety of other columns, including The Trader and Up & Down Wall Street, and wrote features and cover stories before becoming an editor.

Ben’s connection to the publication goes back to the late 1990s when he was a stock trader on Wall Street. His boss would have everyone on the trading floor grab a copy of Barron’s to come up with ideas for Monday. In between his time on Wall Street and at Barron’s, Ben covered financial markets for The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, and BusinessWeek. When he’s not working, Ben enjoys playing guitar and bass, experimenting with synthesizers, and spending time with his family in Prospect Park.

Ben Levisohn

Since joining Barron’s in 2006, Alex has blogged, hosted podcasts, written and edited cover stories, picked stocks, profiled CEOs, launched new verticals and newsletters, supervised our tech coverage, and led award-winning investigations. Some of his cover stories include warning investors about the 3-D printing bubble in 2014 and identifying the new opportunities for Microsoft in 2015. He created and still leads Barron’s first narrative newsletter, Review & Preview, which has won three SABEW awards.

As an editor, Alex has also worked to bring our stories to a broader base of readers, and bolstered Barron’s investigative chops, through stories about gambling addiction, opioids, annuities, and other corporate accountability topics. His team’s stories won three SABEW awards this past year.

Lauren, as you all know, is a talented and highly respected Barron’s veteran, handling economic coverage, Roundtables, Q&As, and much more. Working closely with Ben, Alex, and all of you, she will lead the newsroom when I am out.

All three report to me. Please join me in congratulating them.

Bob
