Meredith Klein of Meredith and the Media spoke with Bloomberg Television markets correspondent Norah Mulinda about her job.
Here is an excerpt:
- What does your day-to-day as markets correspondent look like? How often are you writing about the markets versus doing on-air reporting? Are there certain market moments or examples that you always go on-air for?
- My day-to-day is quite busy. As a correspondent, I appear throughout the market trading day. I serve all the shows that we have on the U.S. television side. So it can vary day-to-day which ones I’m contributing to, but there are some shows where I have a specific time slot that I should expect to be on air every single day at a set time.
- One interesting thing that happened on the Bloomberg Television side more recently is that a few months back, we relaunched these daily shows that we have throughout the week during the 12 p.m. hour. It used to be from 12 to 12:30, and now they’re extended to one hour from 12 to 1 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday—every day is a different show. We launched Bloomberg Deals as a part of that revamp on Wednesdays.
- During the 12 p.m. hour, I come on air at 12:20 to do our midday movers segment, which breaks down the biggest moves going on within both the stock market and macro environment more broadly. I do that at 12:20 and 12:40 every single day, no matter which show is airing during that hour.
