Hearst chief national investigative journalist Albert departs

Mark Albert

Mark Albert, chief national investigative journalist at Hearst Television has left. He wrote on Twitter:

“This week I depart Hearst Television a little more than five years after launching and leading its first national investigative unit. I’m incredibly proud of this honorable and fulfilling effort, the accountability and original investigative journalism we did, and the recognition from our peers across the industry—including the media outlets who quoted our exclusives.

“Thanks to my colleagues who supported us and cheered us on as we innovated and collaborated across platforms and with other newsrooms. And finally, immense gratitude to our viewers, listeners, and readers. We seek the truth for you. Now, it’s time to explore and write a new chapter in my career.”

Albert served as editor-in-chief of The Voyage Report, an online newsroom covering travel and transportation issues. He freelanced for CBS News and CBS station. WUSA-TV Ch. 9 in Washington, D.C.

He is also a Peabody award-winning investigative journalist.

Albert has a B.A. from the University of Southern California.
