Alison Starling, a news anchor at ABC station WJLA-TV Ch. 7 in Washington, D.C., has announced her departure from the station after 20 years. She wrote on X/Twitter:
“I have some exciting personal and professional news to share with you. After 20 years at WJLA-TV and 26 years as a broadcast journalist, I’ve decided that it’s time for me to step away from the anchor desk to spend more time with my beautiful family. More on Instagram.”
Starling joined the TV station in January 2004 to cover major local and national news stories, including Hurricane Isabel in 2003. Before this, she worked as a reporter and anchor at KIRO-TV Ch. 7, a CBS and Telemundo affiliate in Seattle.
She also held the posts of reporter and morning anchor at CBS station WDEF-TV Ch. 12 in Chattanooga.
A seven-time Emmy Award-winning anchor, Starling graduated from the University of Florida.
