WCVB Channel 5 sports reporter Josh Brogadir has added anchor duties to his role as part of the award-winning SportsCenter 5 team. The announcement was made by WCVB President & General Manager Kyle I. Grimes and News Director Margaret Cronan. He takes over for long-time sports anchor and reporter, Bob Halloran, who retired from the position in May. In this new role, Brogadir will continue to work alongside lead sports anchor Duke Castiglione and sports reporters Naoko Funayama and Angel Salcedo.

Brogadir joined WCVB’s SportsCenter 5 team as a sports reporter in May 2022. He previously served as a general assignment reporter for WCVB’s NewsCenter 5 team since August 2016.

“I’m excited to contribute to SportsCenter 5 as an anchor to further connect with our viewers, in addition to my sports reporting,” said Brogadir. “I am passionate about Boston sports, so to take on this new role as I continue to work with my SportsCenter 5 colleagues, some of the best in the business, is a dream come true. I am grateful for the opportunity.”

Prior to WCVB, Brogadir worked in Boston as a sports anchor at Comcast SportsNet New England (CSNNE) and as a news reporter at New England Cable News (NECN).

Brogadir’s early broadcasting career includes reporting at several local news stations across the country including WNEP-TV in Scranton, PA, where he won an Associated Press award for investigative journalism; WHOI-TV in Peoria, IL; KREX-TV in Grand Junction, CO; and KNSD-TV in San Diego, CA where he was a producer.

A native New Englander, Brogadir grew up in Woodbridge, CT and is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania where he played varsity lightweight (now Sprint) tackle football.
