WSJ seeks page one news editor

We are seeking a Page One News Editor to oversee a compelling package of stories, photos and graphics for the front page of The Wall Street Journal.

This editor will work closely with the Print Editor, the Chief News Editor, Editing Chief, art directors and others to shepherd the biggest stories of the day, help select the best photos and visuals for the front page and related inside pages, and drive strong standalone graphics.

This editor will be the final editor on front-page news stories and visuals, and will be responsible for crafting lively headlines and presentation packages.

The successful candidate will be a strong, fast and accurate editor with a knack for writing great headlines and captions; have excellent news judgment and a deep knowledge of business and markets; and be a strong collaborator across teams in the newsroom. This editor reports to the Print Editor.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
