WSJ seeks Market Talk editor

WSJ markets pageThe Editor will supervise the commissioning, editing and publishing of Market Talk items across a broad range of topics, including equities, bonds, economics and commodities across Europe the Middle East and Africa, liaising closely with other stakeholders across the broader editing operation across wires, online and print.

The job holder will help to ensure the quality, volume and timeliness of Market Talks, wires flashes and market moves are maintained and built over time, keeping daily, weekly and monthly data on these metrics for sharing with senior editors, flagging issues and looking for ways to improve the output and contribution of the team.

The News Editor will ensure that staff is suitably timetabled so there is adequate cover at all times. The News Editor will also participate in other essential coverage for the newswire, including filing headlines on market movements and analysts’ ratings changes, and short items on big market moves.

Good communication with the Markets and Business teams will be essential. The position is part of a larger team of editors and reporters focused on fast publishing of breaking news. Due to the nature of the role, working hours may involve starting prior to 7 a.m.
