The Wall Street Journal, Reuters and The Financial Times saw an increase in reader trust, while Bloomberg, Forbes and The Economist saw a decline in the annual Trust in Media survey by YouGov.

The Journal’s trust factor increased to 22 from 20 while Reuters increased to 19 from 17 and The Financial Times increased to 14 from 13.

Meanwhile, Forbes trust factor declined to 18 from 24 while Bloomberg dropped to 11 from 13 and The Economist declined to 11 from 12. Business Insider fell to 7 from 13 a year ago.

Fox Business was the lowest rated business news outlet and fell from a positive 2 to a minus 3. Its competitor CNBC fell to 3 from 6.

YouGov asked Americans whether they think news from outlets is very trustworthy, trustworthy, untrustworthy, very untrustworthy, or neither trustworthy nor untrustworthy. Using these results, we calculate each outlet’s net trust score – that is, how much more likely Americans are to say the outlet’s news is trustworthy or very trustworthy than to say it is untrustworthy or very untrustworthy.
