USA Today seeks financial markets reporter

USA TODAY seeks a reporter to cover financial markets, banking and Wall Street from its New York bureau. The ideal candidate is a talented, flexible writer who has at least three years of experience covering banking, stock and bond markets, hedge funds and activist investor communities.   

This Money section reporter must be comfortable in a fast-paced, 24/7 news environment and have a proven ability to blend breaking news duties with writing feature content.  Editing experience is a plus.

The reporter would need to be:

–Comfortable quickly covering breaking news while simultaneously juggling longer-term enterprise stories.

–Adept at deciphering earnings releases, Securities and Exchange Commission filings and other financial reports.

–Deeply versed in the workings of stock and debt markets.

–Knowledgeable on the banking industry and the different aspects of the business.

–Experienced in covering hedge, private equity and activist investment funds and the colorful personalities who populate the industry.

–Skilled at using a wide range of social media.

–A self-starter and prolific idea generator.

–A team player willing to work closely with other members of the markets/Wall Street team as well as other members of the Money section and the broader USA TODAY network.

–Able to step in as an editor when needed.

–Creative in generating ideas graphics, videos and social media elements to accompany and complement stories.
