The National is looking for journalists who live and breathe Scottish politics to join the team at one of the fastest-growing newspapers in the country.
You will be expected to deliver exclusive news stories which set the agenda, working within a small team to deliver content which will drive subscriptions, and print sales and help us reach new audiences.
As we are a digital-first operation, you will be a digital native – someone who knows how to tell stories creatively for an online audience of millions of people, and more than 10,000 digital subscribers, every month. Experience working in audio or video formats and with data, and using social media at a professional level, would be helpful, but not necessary.
You will be able to provide expert analysis and opinion on the latest twists and turns in Scotland’s news cycle, explaining to our audiences why developments matter. A strong knowledge of Scottish current affairs and the constitutional question is required, and your contacts book will be packed with interesting people who want to talk about Scotland’s present and future.
Experience working in a national newsroom is desirable, and an up-to-date qualification in Scots law and knowledge of all levels of government is essential.
Candidates should be able to work from our Glasgow office at least three days a week. Salary depends on experience.
