Bloomberg Businessweek seeks in depth editor

Bloomberg Businessweek is looking for a creative, experienced and versatile editor to oversee our story packages for the magazine in digital and print. This person should be able to forge relationships across the global newsroom as well as source and manage a wide cast of freelance writers.

The ideal candidate is collaborative and inspiring, someone writers strive to work with. This editor will be expected to come up with ideas for packages that tap into the zeitgeist and bring new perspectives to the most important themes in business, while maintaining an editorial calendar, working with a co-editor to assign and edit stories for each package and contributing to other parts of the magazine.

This person will also help oversee some Businessweek extensions to other platforms, like podcasts and newsletters.

We’ll trust you to:

  • Set the magazine’s agenda for covering the most important themes in business
  • Oversee the magazine’s In Depth section and feature packages
  • Forge relationships with business reporters and editors across Bloomberg News worldwide
  • Develop freelance contacts and assign stories
  • Brainstorm story ideas, develop them with writers and edit the stories to completion
  • Work collaboratively and across platforms with our art department, copy desk, video, audio, newsletter and social teams
  • Help oversee Businessweek podcasts and newsletter

You’ll need to have:

  • At least 7 years of experience in journalism, including editing. Experience in magazines and management is a plus
  • Interest in and understanding of business, economics, markets, politics, tech and culture
  • Curiosity and inventiveness

Salary Range = 155000 – 210000 USD Annually + Benefits + Bonus
