The Economist is looking to hire a staff correspondent to write about global public policy.
The job is London-based, but involves travelling everywhere. Previous journalistic experience is not essential, but candidates must be able to write well, generate original ideas and spot intriguing patterns in data.
We test for these things mostly by asking for a sample article, which applicants should send, with a CV to: econjob@economist.com. Please write up to 600 words. Your article could be on any subject, but you should try to mimic the punchy, witty, rigorous style of The Economist. (For some examples, please follow the links below.) The deadline is Sept. 4.
