Reuters seeks tech company reporter in Tokyo

Reuters Tokyo bureau is looking for a savvy and dedicated journalist to cover the technology sector in our busy company news team.

From quirky start-ups making clever games for smartphones to stodgy conglomerates with deep pockets, the tech scene in Japan offers ample potential for a creative and tenacious reporter.

The successful candidate will be able to beat the competition in spotting big-picture industry trends as well as emerging technologies, writing about them with flair and connecting the dots to economic and social issues of global import. An ability to develop high-level sources and work smoothly with a bilingual team of industrial news reporters is also a must.

Fluency in written and spoken Japanese is also required. The successful candidate will also be to help with coverage of major breaking stories and jump into enterprise reporting projects

Qualifications
– At least three years’ experience in financial journalism preferred

– Strong English writing skills and fluency in spoken and written Japanese

– Ability to develop sources and to spot trends and big-picture developments ahead of the pack- Experience writing about the technology sector a plus

– Experience with working on investigative projects an advantage

– Fluency in written and spoken Japanese is also required
