Reuters seeks Canada news editor

Reuters is looking for a Canada News Editor to oversee daily spot coverage across the file, ensure stories are written to the highest standards, and work with the bureau chief to ensure we are meeting and exceeding financial, professional and media clients’ needs.

The successful applicant for this linchpin role will also be the key liaison with Bangalore operations across the Canadian file. This newly created position is a critical part of an ongoing overhaul of our Canadian operations, which has already included a new position in Montreal and foresees additional reporting strength in Toronto.

Additional responsibilities include:
– Enhance excellence of Canadian spot news coverage, including holding regular audits in comparison to competitors
– Help polish Canadian copy before it goes to the desk to make it sing and include essential nut grafs while still ensuring swift turnaround
– Identify smart angles on daily reporting
– Ensure highest level of speed by proactively identifying and filling areas of weakness
– Provide seamless collaboration with visuals & graphics to increase multimedia content
