Reuters seeks a commodities reporter

October 16, 2019

Posted by Chris Roush

Reuters is seeking a focused, driven journalist who is passionate about breaking news and investigative journalism to join the New York commodities team to cover energy, soft commodities and metals markets and report and write hard-hitting stories stemming from the developments in those markets.

The reporter would do everything from market reporting to deep enterprise pieces – and should be as comfortable covering an oil, metals or sugar and coffee market as they are delivering a front-page story.

We cover a variety of markets from New York- from gasoline to crude to coffee. This is an exciting time to be on the commodities file – energy policy is a central theme of the presidency of Donald Trump, and metals and agriculture have been heavily affected by Trump’s trade wars.

This a full-time, benefits eligible position. The successful candidate will produce enterprising scoops, shed light on opaque commodities and energy markets, and develop sources in a multitude of industries.

The reporter should have strong team skills and be keen to help report on the entire range of commodities as part of a competitive and flexible reporting squad that has a hard-won reputation for agenda-setting coverage.

Our regional energy and commodity correspondents are based in New York, Chicago, Houston, Canada and Latin America so the ability to work in a virtual team is essential.
