The editor in chief will drive editorial strategy, managing a team of full-time writers and editors and contributors, and explore new channels of growth for 2017 and beyond. The ideal candidate will have the capacity to 1) forge a stronger connection with our core audience by breaking news and providing deeper business intelligence and 2) broaden our reach by telling more engaging stories in more innovative ways.
Key Responsibilities
- Craft editorial vision
- Manage a staff of ~10 full-time writers and editors
- Manage a contributor network of industry experts
- Make the site a daily must-read for the industry
- Break industry news
- Build out coverage of real estate sub-verticals
- Deepen our capability to deliver key data
- Tell stories that engage a broader audience
- Drive traffic and subscription growth
- Define off-platform strategy
- Build our capacity to produce video
- Help events team produce best-in-class conferences
- Work with management to pursue aggressive growth objectives
- Insure daily and weekly deadlines are met

- 10+ years in digital media

Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
