Politico seeks a deputy health care editor

Politico is seeking an experienced and entrepreneurial editor to help lead a dynamic team of reporters covering the intersection of health care policy and politics in Washington.

This editor must exhibit excellent news judgment and exceptional skill at helping reporters produce high-impact journalism in a fast-paced newsroom. Responsibilities include generating story ideas in a fast-paced news environment, coordinating coverage with fellow editors and editing breaking news, quick-turn enterprise and longer-term deep dives for all platforms of Politico. We’re looking for someone conversant in  health policy issues at the federal and state levels. This is a critical editing position in the Politico newsroom, one for an editor who can help us innovate and find new ways to reach readers.

What You Need: 

  • At least 3-5 years of editing and assigning newsroom experience or 8-10 years of health reporting experience
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor reporters of varying experience levels
  • A track record of crafting and refining high-impact story ideas
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
