Pacific Coast Business Times, the weekly business journal for California’s Central Coast, is looking for a staff writer to cover health care, commercial real estate, housing, banking, travel/tourism and law/government/politics.
We cover Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties, with an office in downtown Santa Barbara. The region is a global tourism destination with a thriving tech culture and a complex but innovative health care system.
We are an independent publication with a 22-year history of encouraging reporters to try new approaches to coverage within our core beats. We publish weekly in print and daily online and expect our reporters to cover both breaking news and in-depth feature stories.
This is a full-time job with health benefits and a 401(k). We have a flexible, hybrid home/office schedule and typically expect our staff writers to be in the office three days a week. The right candidate could start off with a fully remote schedule if they are living out of town, but would be expected to relocate to our area as soon as possible.
