NY Times seeks economics editor in Washington

The Washington Bureau of the New York Times is looking for an economics editor to manage and edit the reporters who make up the economics cluster in the Washington Bureau — those reporters who cover the Treasury, the Fed, the IMF, the World Bank, trade, tax policy and some domestic policy.

The editor should have experience with congressional coverage, either as a reporter or an editor, and be able to manage stories on the confluence of politics and policy.

The editor will at times work with White House reporters and should be collaborative, flexible and full of story ideas.

The editor will participate in hiring, write evaluations of the economics reporters, help set strategy and run the bureau when other editors are not available. The editor will work closely with Biz Day, particularly Biz Day’s economics editor, and will report to the Washington bureau chief as well as the editor of Biz Day.
