NPR seeks senior editor for business

NPR’s business desk is looking to hire a senior editor to help drive and manage news coverage. The candidate should have deep knowledge of business news, with an understanding of the economy, financial markets, media, consumer finance, workplace and technology.

DUTIES:

  • Generate story ideas and review story pitches
  • Assign, develop and edit original stories from team members
  • Help develop storytelling approaches and sources
  • Coordinate coverage plan with shows, digital editors and other desks
  • Protect the editorial integrity and quality of news online and on the air

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university or equivalent required
  • About 10 years of news editing and reporting. Business news experience preferred
  • Knowledge of audio production
  • Considerable skill in both news and feature editing. Investigative editing, a plus
