International news service MLex seeks a reporter to cover European reviews of mergers and acquisitions and how they create regulatory risk for companies and investors.
The Brussels-based job involves tracking merger deals (mainly, although not exclusively at an EU level) and speaking to all parties, with a view to being the first to identify and report on developments in key deals.
This is an excellent opportunity for either a journalist with at least four years’ experience, with a strong understanding of antitrust law and the EU’s regulatory environment, or a lawyer with experience in writing and reporting.
The job includes working to deadlines and keeping track of often quite complex files. The position requires high level English-language skills and a willingness to hit the phones and talk to lawyers and industry players.
A European language — particularly German or Dutch — would be an advantage, but not a pre-requisite. The successful candidate would be expected to work well with M&A and antitrust reporters in MLex’s bureaux worldwide.
