Insider is looking for a superstar editor to help launch our deals coverage.
You’ll be responsible for guiding and editing stories that break news on tech-focused M&A, IPOs, as well as private fundraising. The editor should have a proven track record of breaking deal news, as well as impeccable news judgement. The role will also offer the chance to guide innovative coverage of dealmaking, and you’ll have the freedom to go beyond just the headlines to dig into the personalities, relationships, and backstory behind big transactions.
This will be a high-profile role in a newsroom that values creativity, accountability, and diversity of ideas and opinions.
The editor will be part of our fast-growing finance team, and will also collaborate with tech and VC specialists from other areas of the newsroom. This role also offers the opportunity to recruit and grow our deals team.
They will be an artful storyteller that can coach reporters on turning a tip or big idea into a must-read for a subscription audience. This person should be well-versed in the mechanics of IPOs and dealmaking and have a wide network of sources.
Some of the skills that would make a candidate successful in the role:
-Leadership skills to guide and build a team of experienced reporters.
-Collaboration skills to work with reporters to develop sourcing, hone their reporting, and coach them on landing tips.
-Comfort editing stories on complex financial topics, high attention to detail, and the ability to move quickly on competitive stories.
