Silicon Prairie News is seeking a versatile Reporter-Multimedia Specialist to join our editorial team. This role blends traditional reporting skills with multimedia expertise to create compelling and impactful content across various platforms. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in covering the entrepreneurship and innovation community in Nebraska, producing content that engages our audience through written articles, videos, audio content and other multimedia formats.
The reporter will report to the Editor of Silicon Prairie News. The position is based at the organization’s headquarters in downtown Omaha and requires some in-office work, with the potential for remote work. It also requires occasional travel within Nebraska, including on evenings and weekends.
Full-time, exempt position, with benefits.
Pay: $48,000-53,000

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reporting: Conduct in-depth research, interviews and analysis to produce well-researched and insightful articles on technology, innovation and entrepreneurship topics relevant to Nebraska.
- Multimedia Content Creation: Develop and produce multimedia content, including videos, audio, infographics and other formats to complement written articles and enhance the overall storytelling experience.
- Interviews and Event Coverage: Attend relevant events, conduct interviews with key stakeholders and provide live coverage to capture the essence of the Nebraska ecosystem.
- Social Media Engagement: Effectively utilize social media platforms to share and promote content, engage with the audience and stay informed about the latest trends and discussions in the Nebraska ecosystem.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the editorial team, designers, photographers and marketing team to ensure cohesive and comprehensive story coverage and promotion.
- Adaptability: Stay current with emerging technologies, trends and multimedia storytelling techniques to continuously enhance the quality and variety of content produced.
- Community Building: Foster relationships within the Nebraska tech community, building a network of sources and contributors to enrich coverage.
