Endpoints News is seeking a senior journalist who can help build our coverage of China’s booming biopharma industry. This is a role for a journalist who wants to set the agenda on one of biotech’s most important stories, and is interested in playing a crucial role expanding our coverage in the region.
In this role, you’ll cover Chinese biotechs including R&D work, public and private financial markets, and key industry power players. You’ll work closely with our team in the US to help readers understand how the US and China compete and cooperate. And you’ll help uncover cool startups, interesting science, and new entrepreneurs.
This is the first of several roles in the region that we hope to hire, as part of our growing coverage of China’s role in global biotech and how it serves its own citizens and interacts with the rest of the world.
The right candidate has a clearly articulated point of view on the biotech industry, experience reporting in China, is a strong writer or editor, and is ready and able to work with our colleagues in the US and UK as a team player. We plan to eventually hire more staff in the region, and we’re looking for somebody who can lead by example, and eventually help manage a team. You’ll have the opportunity to shape our coverage and our regional footprint, help hire additional resources in the region, and will have a high-impact, high-profile role at Endpoints.
Key attributes:
- 7+ years experience in business journalism; including experience covering business and biopharma
- Excellent written and spoken English, plus Mandarin language skills
- Located in or willing to relocate to Hong Kong, able to travel to mainland China
- Collaborative, entrepreneurial attitude
