We are seeking a reporter to join our Asia credit team in Seoul. You will be at the center of one of the hottest stories in Asia, covering South Korea’s $2 trillion local debt market. Among the biggest in the region, it’s where some of the world’s most important tech and financial conglomerates tap funds, and increasingly a hot spot for private credit. Korea has also been in the spotlight after risks built up in project financing and led to a string of unprecedented defaults and restructurings, prompting authorities to unveil steps to protect some $160 billion of exposure among financial firms.
You are a Korean speaker with a proven record of delivering exclusives on markets, and helping join the dots to explain the news to our global audiences. Collaboration is a passion. You’ll work seamlessly across our global multi-platform newsroom, and within a bureau that covers a broad range of high-impact news on real estate, finance and crypto currencies.
We’ll trust you to:
- Build sources to generate market-moving scoops and get right to the heart of the biggest stories
- Report with speed and accuracy
- Produce longer-term stories about important bond, loan and private credit market trends
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the newsroom in Korea and globally
You’ll need to have:
- At least 3 years of business journalism experience
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment
- The ability to write quickly, concisely and accurately under tight deadline pressure
- Fluency in both written and spoken English and Korean
- Demonstrated continuous career growth within an organization
- Excellent communication skills to work with colleagues around the world
We’d love to see:
- Experience covering credit and financial markets
