Bloomberg Industry Group is hiring an experienced investigative reporter to produce ambitious, impactful journalism for one of Washington’s busiest newsrooms.

The best candidates will have a track record of being well-organized and having a strong news sense. The reporter in this role will help to harness the strengths of Bloomberg Industry Group’s growing newsroom to produce important work.
What you will do:
- Report and write news articles and breaking news alerts, often on deadline.
- Cover news as it happens, live and in person, including at courthouses, state legislatures, and other strategic locations within your assigned region.
- Pitch, develop and write analytical pieces and feature stories on complicated subjects like tax and legal developments, making them accessible to readers
- Demonstrate knowledge of federal and state legislative, regulatory, and judicial processes.
- Establish strategic relationships with sources, editors, news desk, etc.
- Serve as a resource for other correspondents and Washington based reporters.
- Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
You need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree with coursework in English or journalism preferred.
- 8-12 years’ experience in journalism, including at least one year reporting on subject areas covered by assigned publications.
- Demonstrated knowledge of journalism principles and techniques.
- Knowledge of federal and state legislative, regulatory, and judicial processes.
- The ability to cover events live as they happen and meet with sources in-person within the location being covered.
