Barron’s seeks a newsletter writer

Barron’s is seeking an experienced journalist to lead and own a premium newsletter designed to engage a community of savvy investors.

We see newsletters as a powerful platform to deliver sharp, original insights and actionable market guidance. This new offering—published at least weekly—will provide timely analysis of market trends, highlight Barron’s stock picks, and offer technical takes on notable names, helping readers make sense of recent developments and prepare for what’s ahead.

This role is about more than reporting; it’s about building a dynamic community of smart investors. You’ll experiment with formats and strategies to foster engagement—spotlighting sentiment and inviting direct interaction. Your voice will be authoritative, clear, and accessible, weaving together macro and sector-level news into a compelling, digestible narrative that connects the dots for retail investors.

We’re looking for someone who excels at interpreting market moves and their implications. You should have a strong editorial sensibility, a knack for simplifying complex topics, and a proven track record of audience engagement.

This role involves close collaboration with Barron’s journalists, stock pickers, strategists, and technical analysts. Familiarity with visual storytelling—charts, tools, and graphics—is a must.

The role will be based in New York, though other locations will be considered on merit.

Responsibilities:

  • Assume full responsibility for weekly newsletter.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and other departments to perform research, promote reader engagement, brainstorm on ideas and receive feedback
  • Write jargon-free, clear financial prose
  • Closely follow markets to determine which stocks and sectors may be of particular interest based on news, and should be flagged for readers

Qualifications:

  • A track record of writing a unique, engaging newsletter
  • Deep understanding of financial markets and news that impacts investors
  • Preferably three to five years of experience writing on investing platforms
  • Facility with SEO and audience strategies
  • Ability to communicate with investors of all stripes in a clear and respectful way

You will:

  • Work well under pressure and with other members of the team
  • Be responsive to the community in a timely fashion
  • Actively seek new ways to engage the community via surveys, competitions, shoutouts, and more
