Axios is a media organization dedicated to providing trustworthy, award-winning news in an audience-first format. We’re hiring a senior reporter to cover renewable energy.
Why it matters: You’ll be part of a team focused on chronicling the people, companies and technologies that are shaping — and pulling back from — the energy transition. The position can be based anywhere in the continental U.S.
Go deeper: You’ll collaborate with colleagues across the newsroom to report on the biggest stories and trends shaping energy; highlight the goals and motivations of key players in the field; and break news about where energy is headed during the Trump administration and beyond.
The details: Ideal candidates will embody an entrepreneurial spirit and passion for Axios’ mission. Candidates must have a demonstrated ability to break stories, spot trends for longer-range coverage, and convey contextual meaning to developments on the beat. Ideal candidates will also have the following:
- Experience covering the companies, innovators and investors in the renewables space; familiarity with energy policy is helpful but not required.
- Positive attitude and ability to collaborate and thrive in high-pressure news environments, including the skills to produce stories on tight deadlines.
- Ability to represent Axios coverage at events and on external media channels.
- Commitment to the Axios mission and Smart Brevity style.
Starting salary for this role is in the range of $110,000 – $170,000 and is dependent on numerous factors, including but not limited to location, work experience, and skills. This range does not include other compensation and benefits. Axios’ compensation philosophy takes into account cost of labor differentials across the country. Because this is a remote-optional job posting, this salary range takes into account all possible locations within the United States, but candidates will only be eligible for the salary range for their location.
