Forbes seeks deputy business editor

Forbes is looking for a high-performance, state-of-the-art editor to help run our online coverage of everything from the media industry to automotive to energy to Wall Street and beyond.

The right candidate is an early-career or journeyman editor with the following skills:

  • Top-notch editing abilities
  • Excellent judgment
  • Great instincts for the kinds of work that will resonate with readers
  • Superior ability writing headlines for the web
  • Fast-twitch news muscles
  • Experience recruiting and running a large team of freelance contributors at a web-news pace
  • A sense of humor is a job requirement, as is being comfortable with audience measurement as a core feature of the modern newsroom

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
