Courthouse News Service, a California-based legal news service, is seeking a reporter to cover court filings and proceedings in Cook County. A legal background is not required, but demonstrated interest and ability in writing or journalism is necessary.
The job will entail working from the press room at Cook County courthouse (Daley Center) in downtown Chicago every weekday to review and summarize new civil filings. The reporter will also be expected to pitch and write nationally targeted news and feature stories covering law, politics, the environment and other general news topics in the Chicagoland area. Competitive pay and benefits are offered for a full-time position.
