Business Insider is looking for a transportation editor who is sharp, fast, and who has a knack for telling stories in a relatable and compelling way.
The transportation editor is always thinking up an angle on the news that everyone else has missed. The transportation team is the first to the news, and also regularly interviews CEOs and gets scoops. This candidate should be passionate about everything from Tesla’s Hyperloop plans, to air travel, to earnings from the big automakers.
The transportation editor will manage a growing team of reporters in NYC. These reporters will file everything from breaking news to profiles and exclusive stories, as well as stories from the field. Their editor should be comfortable regularly handling this mixture of story edits, as well handling sensitive scoops.
The Ideal Transportation Editor Will

- Have the ability to write and edit quickly and accurately. A sense of urgency is very important!
- Assign and edit a mix of articles, including short news posts and long-form reported pieces (he or she can also write and report themselves as time allows)
- Have a few years of experience working for a digital publication, either covering transportation or editing a team (or both!).
