Bloomberg News seeks an outstanding editor in San Francisco to edit and develop technology stories.
The editor will be part of team responsible for covering the U.S. technology industry, including startups and venture capital firms as well as Internet companies such as Google, Amazon and Facebook and manufacturers as varied as Apple, Cisco and Hewlett-Packard. The ideal candidate should have at least three years of editing experience and be able to generate ideas while also working to develop those of reporters and fellow editors.
The candidate should be able to work on a variety of story types, including executive profiles; analyses of company strategy or industry trends; short pieces on financial performance and new products; and long-form narrative and investigative projects.
The applicant must possess excellent writing skills, a voracious appetite for technology, a can-do attitude and a spirit that’s collaborative as well as competitive. A sense of humor is welcome.
Qualifications
-Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
-Experience covering the technology industry
-Ability to work gracefully under pressure
-Proven success in generating story ideas
-Proven success in producing outstanding copy
-Proven success in mentoring and coaching reporters
-Minimum of three years of editing experience
