Beverly Hills Weekly seeks an entry level reporter

Beverly Hills Weekly is seeking a reporter who can cover it all from education to city council and beyond. Beverly Hills Weekly is a community paper founded in 1999 with a circulation of 15,000, which includes a readership of some of the most influential people in Southern California. We do not cover entertainment news. Strong interest in local politics/government is preferred.  This is an IN-office position; there is no “work from home”.  If you’re not comfortable attending public meetings or working in an office setting, do not apply for the job.

Perfect position for a recent college graduate. This is not the position for a journalist with more than five years paid experience. Applicants must not be enrolled in school nor graduate school test course whatsoever.

Applicant must:

  • Be available to attend Tuesday evening city council and school board meetings; Wednesday evenings for production
  • Be able to work under tight deadlines
  • Strong writer, proficient with AP style
  • Hold a B.A./B.S. degree
  • Not applying for graduate school, studying for the LSAT/GRE, or other distractions. This is a full-time job.

College newspaper writing experience OK. Business casual dress code, company policy prohibits any visible tattoos.

We are looking for an ambitious, confident reporter who is willing to dig deep for stories and isn’t afraid to ask hard questions. Someone willing to immerse themselves in the community and cover the issues important to residents.

Salary is negotiable. Los Angeles County residents only. Must live within 45 minutes driving distance of Beverly Hills. E-mail resume, two clips, and optional headshot photo to editor@bhweekly.com. Absolutely NO PHONE CALLS. NO OUT OF STATE RESUMES.  MUST BE AVAILABLE TO START RIGHT AWAY.
