The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette has an opening for a multimedia editor. We’re looking for an experienced and enthusiastic individual to join our team of editors and reporters to produce exclusive content for our website, replica edition and social media.
Candidates should be as comfortable in front of the camera as they are behind it and able to coach newsroom staff to engage directly with our audience through videos, podcasts and more.
Duties include:
- Gathering videos, photos, audio and graphics from various sources to combine into videos to complement daily and long-term coverage.
- Helping to generate a daily budget of multimedia elements.
- Overseeing the Democrat-Gazette’s production studio and coordinating with other newsroom staff to produce in-house podcasts and video series.
- Coordinating with newsroom staff to generate audience-engaging video shorts that appear on multiple social media platforms.
- Shooting video at major events and breaking news situations, conducting on-camera interviews and gathering other video elements to edit into complete story packages.
- Training staff to shoot video; working with newsroom reporters and photographers to hone video shooting, audio recording and editing skills with mobile phones, video cameras and other equipment.
