The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, part of a family owned media company, has an opening for a copy editor/page designer on our night news copy desk in Little Rock.
We are doing some exciting, cutting-edge work at the Democrat-Gazette, and we are committed to giving our readers balanced, objective coverage of the day’s news.
The copy desk and design desk are vital parts of our daily effort to continue traditional journalism in a nontraditional way. Readers receive each day’s edition on iPads and other devices; the Sunday paper is printed and delivered to all subscribers. We also have a website where readers can see our stories.
The top applicants will have a college degree in journalism or relevant experience. The journalist we’re seeking knows grammar and AP style and can write accurate, attention-grabbing headlines.
Experience using Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop is a plus. The person hired for this position will be expected to design news pages either immediately or soon after hiring.
