Front Office Sports has hired Ben Horney to lead coverage under “Asset Class,” its new franchise dedicated to sports finance, investment, and transaction activities.

Horney was at Law360, most recently as assistant managing editor overseeing sports betting, mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, and private equity. He was previously a senior reporter there and wrote nearly 5,000 stories.

Prior to Law360, Horney wrote for numerous outlets, including Yahoo Sports, NBA.com, and the Times Beacon Record. He earned his bachelor’s in journalism from SUNY New Paltz.

“New capital flooding into sports at every level is redefining the landscape, with everyone from PE firms to sovereign wealth funds to athletes and celebrities vying for a piece,” said Dan Roberts, editor-in-chief of Front Office Sports, in a statement. “Ben is joining FOS to zoom in on this crucial beat through breaking news and analysis on our site, on-camera reporting, and in the dedicated franchise he’ll launch.”
